New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in this February 2010 file photo.OCEANPORT — On a day when tens of thousands of public workers rallied in Trenton against his budget cuts, Gov. Chris Christie was at Monmouth Park racetrack earning his share of cheers and jeers.
Christie’s appearance to sign legislation aiding thoroughbred racing in New Jersey this afternoon in Oceanport took most spectators by surprise.

But he also withstood loud boos from those who aren’t so happy with his performance so far.
"How ‘bout some jobs, Gov. Christie?" one woman yelled from behind the wrought iron fence as he made his rounds.
"You’re doing the right thing," a man told him seconds later.
Reacting to the jeers, Christie cut short the remarks he was going to make about the legislation he signed.
"They’re not here to see me," Christie said to the local officials around the table with him after leaving the podium.
When asked about the workers’ rally in Trenton, he said, "I’m here. They’re there. Have a nice day."
