More N.J. voters approve of Gov. Christie than disapprove, poll says

TRENTON — A new poll finds New Jerseyans have strong feelings about their blunt-talking governor.

In the Fairleigh Dickinson-PublicMind Poll out today, one-quarter of New Jerseyans strongly approve of the job Gov. Chris Christie is doing. An equal number strongly disapprove.

Overall, 49 percent give Christie a thumbs up, compared to 39 percent who give his job performance a thumbs down.

The Republican governor fares better in the poll than his nemesis, the largest state teachers union. Just under 40 percent think favorably of the New Jersey Education Association; about the same number have a negative view.

The telephone poll of 804 registered voters was conducted Nov. 15-21 and has a sampling error margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
