TRENTON — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he hopes President Barack Obama will compromise with Republicans to achieve education and health care reforms.
The governor, just back from a Republican Governors Association conference, struck a more conciliatory tone than some other members of his party.
Christie made his comments to an editorial board of New Jersey Press Media, which appeared in newspapers today.
Unlike some Republicans, Christie says he does not want to see the president fail.
But the rising star of the Republican Party says he doesn't think the Democratic president's policies will lead to success.
He says now is a good time for Obama "to evaluate where he's leading the country and how he's leading it."
