TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie dismissed a poll released by Zogby this morning showing him as the leading Republican for the party's presidential nomination and the only rumored candidate ahead of President Barack Obama.
Christie repeated his previous declaration that he won't seek higher office for 2012, although some Republican and tea party group have floated his name this year in straw polls.
"That's good news for the president since I'm not running," Christie said. "I'm sure the president is resting easy."
In an appearance in November on late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon's show, Christie didn't dismiss the notion of being a vice presidential candidate entirely.
"Can you see me as anybody's vice president?" Christie remarked.
When asked about the possibility of a Sarah Palin presidency, who came in third in the Zogby poll of Republican hopefuls behind former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, Christie told Fallon, "Who knows, Jimmy. It's an amazing world."
