WASHINGTON — A woman interrupted U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) today as the congressman read a passage from the Constitution on the floor of the House of Representatives.

The exercise of reading the Constitution as the newly elected 112th Congress opened session for the year had been running smoothly for some time, with each congressperson reading a few lines from the document.

But as Pallone took his turn, reading the line, "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President," a woman in the gallery shouted, "Except Obama, except Obama, help us Jesus!" according to a report on TalkingPointsMemo.com.

According to a report on Slate, the woman is Theresa Cao, a birther activist. Birthers are a group of activists who believe President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.

The Sergeant at Arms was called in to remove and arrest her.
