TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie today nominated two more people to the New Jersey Highlands Council — Michael B. Dressler of Cresskill and James Mengucci of Lopatcong, both Democrats, according to a report on DailyRecord.com.
So far, the Legislature has not considered any of the 10 people Christie has nominated, seven last November and an eighth person last month, the report said. About half of the council's 11 members are holdovers from a previous administration whose terms have expired.
The 15-seat council oversees development restrictions with the aim of preserving water resources in the Highlands region in northwest New Jersey.
