ATLANTIC CITY — Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford says his city needs a bigger voice in the state's rescue plan for the struggling gambling resort.
During his State of the City address today, Langford said he's open to the concept of a public-private partnership with the state.
But he said local control of planning and zoning and allocation of police resources can't be bargained away.
The state Legislature has passed major parts of Gov. Chris Christie's blueprint for Atlantic City, centering on a state-run tourism district encompassing the 11 casinos and the Boardwalk.
The legislation is awaiting action by the governor, but Langford said additional changes are needed before he'll support it.
