TRENTON — Every member of New Jersey's congressional delegation has signed a letter supporting Gov. Chris Christie's efforts to fight a $271 million federal bill sent to the state after the governor scrapped plans for a Hudson River train tunnel into New York.
The letter says that while some of the delegation "may differ" on whether or not the project should have been canceled, they are united in protecting New Jersey taxpayers.
Christie canceled the project Oct. 27 because he said the state would be on the hook for nearly all cost-overruns.
Last week, New Jersey's two U.S. senators announced a new proposal with Amtrak to build a new tunnel under the Hudson River as an alternative to the one Christie killed.
Christie is set to meet with the state's delegation in D.C. on Wednesday.
