Rain doesn't deter union members from gathering outside Statehouse
TRENTON — Protesters both from New Jersey and other states are gearing up for a rally in support of Wisconsin workers this morning outside the Statehouse in Trenton.
Despite pouring rain, members of unions such as the New Jersey Education Association and Communications Workers of America are waving signs and singing outside the Statehouse.
"We're proud teachers worried about collective bargaining," said Jennifer Clemen, a teacher in Englewood.
Another Englewood educator, Linnea Carenza, wearing a "recall Chris Christie" banner on her jacket, said they are supporting the middle class.
Signs read, "negotiate don't dictate," "recall Chris Christie," and "Stand up: Rally to support New Jersey's families and communities."
Khalil Nurullah, member of CWA Local 1109, traveled from Brooklyn to advocate for worker rights.
"Without collective bargaining, management can just say anything, you're fired tomorrow," he said.
