TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie said he would turn down an offer to run for vice president in 2012 and expressed hope that actor Charlie Sheen would get addiction treatment, according to a report by NBC New York.
"I'm flattered. No thank you," the television station reported Christie told them in an interview today.
Christie also talked about Sheen, who has catapulted into the limelight this week after controversial statements about his life style, drug problem and boss.
"He's obviously consumed by drugs and alcohol," Christie said, according to NBC New York. "It's a sad example for our kids to see what he's doing now."
Sheen has spent the last week giving a flurry of media interviews, making comments that have garnered laughs and outcries.
"It's entertaining to hear some of the goofy stuff he says," Christie said, "but in the end what I really see there is a troubled guy who needs help and I hope he gets it."
