TRENTON — Republican lawmakers in the New Jersey Legislature have asked that $10.5 million be included in the state budget to fund health care for homebound adults.
The request for the additional money was detailed in a memo from the Assembly Republican office to GOP lawmakers obtained by The Associated Press.
The additional spending will be offset by cuts to other programs.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie approved the change.
Democrats want $400 million put back in the budget to fund a prescription drug program for AIDS patients, family planning centers and other programs.
A person involved in the budget talks says Democrats will suggest ways to pay for the budget restorations.
Christie has proposed a $29.3 billion budget that makes sweeping cuts.
