TRENTON — Assemblywoman Denise Coyle will not seek re-election.
The two-term Somerset County Republican had planned to move from her home in Bernards Township so she could seek re-election with her old running mates, state Sen. Christopher “Kip” Bateman (R-Somerset) and Peter Biondi (R-Somerset).
Under the new legislative district map adopted two weeks ago, Coyle was thrown into a different district with two other Republican assembly incumbents.
But Coyle today said logistics, along with a slumping housing market, made it hard to pull off the move.
“The new redistricting map created a great deal of uncharted territory and I initially believed I could re-locate into the newly drawn 16th Assembly District,” said Coyle (R-Somerset. “ However, after reviewing the logistics and the realities of the current housing market, it is clear that a move is not feasible for me and my family.”
