TRENTON — Patrick Hobbs, dean of the Seton Hall Law School, will be the next leader of the State Commission of Investigation.
He was appointed by Gov. Chris Christie, officials announced today.
"I am honored by the trust placed in me by the governor, and I am committed that the SCI does its very best to serve the citizens of New Jersey as a premiere government watchdog agency," Hobbs said in a statement.
The commission has endured turnover in recent months. Hobbs will succeed Cary Edwards, who passed away in October after serving six years as chairman.
In addition, Philip Degnan, an assistant U.S. attorney in New Jersey, is replacing of Alan Rockoff as executive director.
The State Commission of Investigation examines crime, corruption and government waste and reports to the Legislature.
