WASHINGTON — Gov. Chris Christie will appear this morning with a bipartisan panel of other national education reformers to discuss the federal government’s role in transforming the nation’s failing public schools.
The town hall meeting will take place at George Washington University and will be moderated by CNN national political correspondent Jessica Yellin.
Parents and students from Lowell, Mass. and Memphis, Tenn. will participate in the conversation via satellite.
This appearance follows education reform speeches recently delivered by Christie for the Bookings Institution and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, opportunities that expand the governor’s national reputation as an education reformer.
Alongside Christie will be Deputy Education Secretary Anthony Miller, Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet, California Rep. George Miller and Harlem Children's Zone founder Geoffrey Canada.
