TRENTON — The state's largest teachers union plans to crank up their protests next week as lawmakers move to curtail public worker benefits.

The New Jersey Education Association has scheduled a march across the Calhoun Street bridge from Morrisville, Pa., to Trenton on Monday morning.

Union members will be crossing the Delaware River — like George Washington during the Revolutionary War — for what the NJEA is calling the "Second Battle of Trenton."

NJEA spokesman Steve Wollmer said unions have also planned a "tent city" on the lawn near the War Memorial in Trenton. He said they're still waiting for the state to grant final approval to their permit application.

The "tent city" would be called "Camp Collective Bargaining."

"We think this will become a bit of a happening," Wollmer said. "It will start out small and build."
