Taxes are so burdensome in the Garden State that residents are fleeing by the thousands, according to state Sen. Tom Kean (R-Union).
Actually, Kean claimed that nearly 190,000 people jumped the state line in 2009 because of the financial strain of living in the Garden State. But what Kean didn't mention in a press release about his outward migration statistic is that more than 130,000 people moved into New Jersey during the same time frame.
In addition, a variety of experts have told PolitiFact New Jersey that taxes are a factor in people leaving the state, but not the only factor. The Truth-O-Meter rates Kean's statement False.
