TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie still hasn't spoken to Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-Gloucester).
After a very public falling out at the beginning of the month, Christie says he's still waiting for senator to call him. Christie called their relationship "passionate" and "ground breaking" and said they remain friends.
The fight over the budget hit a breaking point when Sweeney told The Sunday Star-Ledger that he thought Christie was a "prick" and a "mean old bastard" who had cut funding for the poor to retaliate against Democrats.
On July 3, the morning the comments appeared, Christie said he called Sweeney but didn't get an answer. The two haven't spoken since then.
"As soon as he calls I'll take the call," Christie said. "We have a lot of work to do for the people of the state."
