NEW YORK — Gov. Chris Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo are expected to back a $1.50 toll hike on Port Authority bridges and tunnels, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.
The report — which cites a single, unnamed source — also said the two governors will push for a "sweeping" audit of the agency's finances as part of the compromise.
If approved, the $1.50 toll hike, applied to E-ZPass account holders, would raise peak-time tolls for cars to $9.50. Cash-paying drivers would pay an increase of $0.50, or a total of $10 during the same period.
Off-peak tolls would be raised to $7.50 and $8 for E-ZPass account holders and cash-paying drivers, respectively.
PATH fares would increase by 25 cents, to $2.
The two governors are expected to make an announcement this evening, the report said.
