Chris Christie will be seeking the Republican nomination for president in the 2012 election. Christie is scheduled to give a speech at 9 p.m. today about unrelated topics, and we will have live video coverage here on NJ.com.

Although the political world is buzzing with speculation over whether Gov. Chris Christie will, or will not, be throwing his hat into the ring for the 2012 presidential election, the governor is scheduled to give a speech tonight that will focus on other themes.

The speech, which will be streamed live here starting at 9 p.m. (see video player below), is expected to focus on what the governor views as partisan bickering that is hindering American progress.

Christie will be delivering his remarks at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, in a speech titled "Real American Exceptionalism."

"Unfortunately, through our own domestic political conduct of late, we have failed to live up to our own tradition of exceptionalism," part of the speech reads. "Today, our role and ability to affect change has been diminished because of our own problems and our inability to effectively deal with them."

According to excerpts released by Christie's office, he also will touch on national security and the country's ailing economy.
