ATLANTIC CITY — All taxi drivers in Atlantic City will undergo training in state and federal civil rights law to settle allegations that the Yellow Cab Co. discriminated against a blind man by refusing him and his guide dog a ride to a casino, the Attorney General's Office said today.

Under the settlement, about 600 cab drivers who work in the city will be provided the mandatory training by the state Division on Civil Rights, the office said in a news release. The cab company admits no wrongdoing, the release said.

The settlement resolves a complaint filed by Thomas Schierioth, of Atlantic City, that twice on July 10, 2010 he and his dog were refused a ride by Yellow Cab drivers, the release said.

“The alleged actions attributed to the Yellow Cab employees in this case are troubling,” Attorney General Paula Dow said in the release.
