Gov. Chris Christie is seeking help from Washington for damage caused by the October storm that pounded parts of the state with snow, rain and high winds.
Christie has asked President Barack Obama for a major disaster declaration for 11 counties.
Christie wrote the president that the storm's impact on trees and power lines rivaled Hurricane Irene.
The governor is seeking funds to reimburse towns and agencies for emergency work, debris clearance, and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the storm and flooding.
The declaration would cover Bergen, Cape May, Essex, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
