TRENTON — New Jersey has launched a website that allows citizens to track state government spending and look up payroll data on state government employees.
The "Government Transparency Center" at www.YourMoney.nj.gov went online today.
The Treasury Department established the site under an executive order Gov. Chris Christie issued on his first day in office in January.
Christie said the goal was to "hold Trenton accountable" by publishing state financial information online regularly.
The website contains data on tax collections, expenditures by various state agencies and payroll data for agencies and individuals.
Treasurer Andrew Eristoff said there are plans to expand the site to add data on public authorities and the state pension plan.
