The governor receives a Mostly True from the Truth-O-Meter, because the former Abbott districts get about 60 percent of the aid
There's only so many state dollars to support public education in New Jersey, but apparently a fraction of school districts are getting most of the money.
In a recent appearance at the University of Notre Dame, Gov. Chris Christie claimed that "out of 588 school districts, we give 31 (former Abbott) districts 70 percent of the aid."
The Republican governor wasn't too far off, because a PolitiFact New Jersey analysis found that those districts are slated to receive about 60 percent of the state aid during the 2011-12 school year.
