Blake, a Raritan Township resident, is Director of the Institute for Families at the Rutgers School of Social Work, where she oversees a $30 million in grants and contracts, according to the governor’s office. She is an 18-year veteran of the state Division of Youth and Family Services.

Last month, former Acting Commissioner Janet Rosenzweig resigned and withdrew her nomination over questions about her credentials and role at a sex research organization. Since then, the department has been run by its chief of staff, Kara Wood.

Blake holds a Ph.D., masters and bachelors degree in social work. Her nomination will have to be approved by the state Senate Judiciary Committee before going on to the full senate for confirmation.
