First pitch is held in hometown of former Gov. Jon Corzine
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie speaks to the Conference of Mayors Annual Luncheon Meeting in Atlantic City.HOBOKEN, -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie today is taking his plan to stem the nation's highest property tax to the people.
Christie will hold his first town hall meeting here — former Gov. Jon Corzine's hometown — to talk about his plan to place a 2.5 percent limit to property tax increases that would require voter approval to exceed. The event was scheduled for 11 a.m.
Last week, Christie unveiled a package of 33 bills to cap state spending to reduce property taxes. Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, are pushing for a proposal to raise income taxes on millionaires for one year to give relief to seniors. Christie has said he'll veto any tax increase.
Christie will join Mayor Dawn Zimmer at the Hoboken Catholic Academy for the town hall.
