TRENTON —The Burlington County Republican who turned down former Gov. Jon Corzine's nomination to become a state judge is getting a second chance.
The Senate Judiciary Committee will consider Sen. Phil Haines' nomination today.
If the committee approves, the full Senate will vote on the confirmation.
Haines was nominated to the bench by fellow Republican Gov. Chris Christie.
He was previously nominated by Democrat Corzine. But Haines withdrew his name in protest over Corzine's flurry of post-election nominations and appointments.
Corzine rushed to fill hundreds of vacancies on state and county boards and commissions after losing to Christie last November. Republicans criticized him for it, though many of the slots had been vacant for months.
