TRENTON — The 2010 election is official.
The state Board of Canvassers met this morning to certify the results of the midterm election, approving the election of 13 members of Congress, two state Senators and two Assembly members.
Mostly a ceremonial function, the five-member board headed by Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno signed off on the results, where all but one of New Jersey's 13 U.S. House members were re-elected. Republican Jon Runyan, a former tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, defeated Democrat John Adler, who will leave after one term in the traditionally Republican 3rd district that stretches from Camden County to the Jersey Shore. Next year, Democrats will hold 7 of the 13 New Jersey House seats.
The board, which finished its work in 10 minutes, also includes Division of Elections Director Robert Giles, state Sens. Donald Norcross, (D-Camden) and Steven Oroho (R-Sussex) and Assemblywomen Elease Evans (D-Passaic) and Dawn Marie Addiego (R-Burlington).
