TRENTON — The State Board of Education this morning gave the public its annual snapshot of how students are performing in New Jersey schools, with the release of statewide standardized test data for students in grades 3-8, and 11th grade.
About 100,000 students in each grade level were tested in language arts and math last spring, with younger students taking the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK), and 11th graders, the High School Proficiency Assessment.
The results released also included tests in science for eighth and fourth grades; and the state biology test given to high school students. Also provided was the state's Alternate Proficiency Assessment, which is given to students with significant cognitive disabilities, who cannot participate in regular statewide assessments, even with accommodations.
