TRENTON — The state Senate on Tuesday is expected to vote on former Attorney General David Samson’s nomination as chairman of the Port Authority.
Samson, who was nominated in September, is one of 20 nominees who will be considered for confirmation Tuesday. They will first have to be approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will meet in the morning. In the afternoon, the full Senate will vote to confirm the nominations.
Samson, a founding member of the law firm of Wolff & Samson, will replace Anthony Coscia as chairman if he's confirmed. Samson served as attorney general under former Gov. Jim McGreevey from 2002-03. A counsel to Christie’s gubernatorial campaign, Samson also co-chaired his transition team.
Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Warshaw Jr.’s nomination will also be taken up.
Gov. Chris Christie and the Democratic Legislature this month have started to make progress on a backlog of the governor’s nominations, some dating back to March.
Two Superior Court judges who Democrats were also pressuring Christie to re-nominate as their initial seven-year terms came to a close — Heidi Currier and Frederick Schuck — are also on the agenda.
