NEW BRUNSWICK — Gov. Chris Christie walked briskly into the Heldrich Hotel at about 11:45 a.m. today, where Republicans and Democrats are holed up as they prepare their final pitches for a new legislative district map.
Christie walked quickly up to the second floor of the hotel and entered the room. Reporters stationed nearby could not make it over fast enough to ask for comment.
This is Christie’s second visit to the Heldrich during the redistricting process. On Sunday, he caused a stir by joining Republican commissioners for their map presentation to tiebreaker Alan Rosenthal.
The new legislative district map, due Sunday, will help determine which party controls the Legislature for the next decade. Christie has said at Town Hall meetings he wants fellow Republicans controlling both houses to help push his agenda.
