TRENTON — New Jersey's AFL-CIO has taken revenge on one of its own.
Delegates from across the state voted not to endorse a South Jersey assemblyman who voted in favor of a pension and health benefits overhaul the unions strongly opposed.
John Amodeo of Margate has been in the Assembly since 2008. He is a Republican and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
The AFL-CIO is holding its endorsement conference for legislative candidates today.
This year's event is contentious because of the unpopular benefits legislation.
Building Trades and Construction Council President Bill Mullen has threatened to walk out if Democratic Sens. Stephen Sweeney and Donald Norcross are not endorsed. They also voted for the benefits bill.
All 120 legislative seats are up for re-election in November.
